A commercial vehicle insurance policy provides coverage for vehicles used for business purposes. This insurance protects your business from liability suits if your driver was at fault, covers accident-related medical costs for the driver and any passengers, and covers the costs of injuries or damage in the case of uninsured or hit-and-run drivers. It also protects your business from having to cover vehicle repair or replacement costs related to damage from theft, vandalism, flood, fire, or being hit by an object.
Commercial truck insurance provides liability, medical cost, and repair or replacement costs for large trucks—pickups, box trucks, tow trucks, dump trucks, semi-trucks, and flatbed trucks—as well as specialized equipment such as garbage trucks, tractors, and construction vehicles, including front loaders and cement trucks. These policies are different from regular commercial vehicle coverage. Because these vehicles have a larger size and heavier frame, accidents involving them typically have much more extensive damage and injuries.
Inland marine insurance protects the property inside vehicles during transportation to job sites, client offices, or company locations. Commercial vehicle insurance doesn’t provide this coverage. Property covered includes equipment, tools, construction equipment, unique or valuable property, and property that transfers information, such as computers or communication equipment. Some policies protect against loss due to collisions, natural disasters, fire, windstorms, and theft. Other policies allow you to specify the loss events covered.
